How To Save SHSH Blobs Of Any Old Firmware Running On Your iOS Devices With iFaith [Guide]

As reported earlier, iH8sn0w has something special to release in this week, it seems that now he’s along with that! iH8sn0w has released iFaith, a new SHSH blob dumper for all iOS devices that can save SHSH files of any firmware running on your device even if Apple is not signing it. Well, let’s have more information on this and the step by step guidelines on how to save SHSH blobs of any old firmware running on your iOS device using this newly released iFaith.

As you may know that backing up SHSH blobs lets users easily downgrade devices in the future, by just restoring the device the device using iTunes. The issue is that once Apple stops signing the old firmware, there is no way to get SHSH blobs for it. And hence, iFaith comes into the picture, which allows users to dump SHSH files for for the old firmware running on the device even if Apple isn’t signing the firmware.

Actually, the project had been in development since January 30, was first teased one week ago on Twitter on its own account, @projectif. iFaith allows users to effortlessly backup SHSH blobs of any firmware on the device even if Apple is not signing it, making it effortless to downgrade the device’s firmware in the future.

This iFaith works by backing up blobs from old firmwares, presently running on the device for later use, onto iFaith’s own remote server, in which way you can upgrade your phone and simply downgrade it later through iTunes, actually, the way we would do it before Apple launched SHSH blobs, as long as the blob has been backed up.

Also, iFaith allows users to visualize all backed up blobs, as well as build custom .ipsw’s using those blobs. Custom IPSW’s can then be used to restore the device using iTunes.

iFaith’s Windows version can be downloaded right now from iH8sn0w’s website, while the Mac counterpart will be available soon. Also, the Toronto based developer (iH8sn0w) indicated at the chances of open-sourcing the software later on, though no decisions have been made on that particular matter.

iFaith is compatible with the devices that are susceptible to the limera1n jailbreak exploit such as iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, iPod touch 3G, iPod touch 4G, the first-generation iPad and the Apple TV 2G. iPad 2 is not supported.

Step – 1 : First, download iFaith for Windows from here.

Step – 2 : Now, start the program and click on “Dump SHSH blobs” button as shown in the screenshot below.

Step – 3 : Then, hit the “Proceed” button, followed by “Let’s Go!” until the program asks you to enter DFU mode.

Step – 4 : Now, enter your device into DFU mode using the on-screen instructions as mentioned below;

  • First, hold “Power” and “Home” buttons in 10 seconds.
  • After that, release the “Power” button, continuing the “Home button for 10 more seconds.
  • Finally, your device should be in DFU mode.

After the device in the DFU mode, ifaith will automatically start the process of dumping SHSH blob, which may take a while.

Step – 5 : After the process is completed, iFaith will ask you to save the SHSH blob on local disk. In addition to this, iFaith will also automatically save a copy of this file on its server.
